John comes to Healthy Buildings with a rich and diverse background, along with a lifelong passion for the environment. John studied ecology and botany at Humboldt State University, where he managed to breed his own variety of melon. In addition, John also studied construction management at San Diego State University. Other pursuits include a certification in permaculture design from Occidental Arts and Ecology. He studied solar design at the Solar Living Institute. John has Volunteered at GRID Alternatives and has worked as a certified arborist. His appreciation for nature and sustainable construction led him to start building green tiny homes from repurposed and recycled materials. When he is not building and working on his land, John enjoys alpine climbing, backpacking and mountain biking. He hopes to summit every mountain over 14,000 in his lifetime.
