Allan is an architect with over 25 years experience in the profession. He has played a key role in the completion of hundreds of custom home projects throughout the Bay Area. Along with that he has worked on a variety of commercial and public works projects. For two years he was the owner’s representative for the National Park Service for the construction of a LEED Gold building at Point Reyes National Seashore. Before getting into architecture Allan worked six years in construction as a carpenter and a glazier. He worked on the construction of passive solar sunspace additions to homes and office buildings and installed many skylights. For three years of that time he headed a crew installing large daylighting roof systems on hotels, schools and industrial buildings in Colorado and Wyoming. Allan completed his Master of Architecture at the University of California at Berkeley where he concentrated in the study of ecological design, building energy management, and innovation in housing ideas. He is as passionate about nature as he is about architecture and building. He also studied forestry and ecology for a time before focusing on architecture as a professional goal. His favorite recreational activities are ones he has enjoyed since childhood: spending time with his family, woodworking, walking his dog along the river and watching for birds and other wildlife.
